Guy trouble.. please answer?

ok.. so me and this guy have been friends for awhile and at some points we were more then friends... but went right back to being friends... then he got a gf, well it hurt me.. bad! then they broke up :) made me happy.. but now he kinda talks to me.. we didnt go to the same school but next year we are... so is his ex and idk if their back together and im really confused! if they are back together it will be awkward to hang around with them. if they arent it will be awkward to be around her.. idk any more ppl at the school.. please help me and no smart alec answers plzzzzz
