What is it like living in Virginia?

I'm from machusetts and I've always wanted to move to Virginia. I have been there once as a kid, and I've loved it ever since. Now, I want to move down to Virgina and start a life of my own. Which areas are nice and peaceful, and are not too expensive to live (since i have whats considered a "low income" job)?
