When we 100% know Sadaam used WMD on his own people... then please help me understand why people are upset?

when Saddam was killing all the Kurds the Americans were calling for someone to go in there and help them and when Saddam refused to cooperate with the UN inspectors everybody said he's hiding something....I think the whole problem is that Americans have short memories and most of them have no idea how war works!
