Why did the white British take over and colonized the country of India?

Britain sought to exploit the gigantic wealth of India and expand the empire, so they did. It wasn't considered immoral in those times to invade indigenous "primitive" nations, it was considered kind because Britain believed it was spreading a better way of life. Of course this is totally immoral, we know that now.
