Jury Duty During the first week of school?

I'm not a lawyer, nor an expert on such matters, however, during my term on jury duty I saw several dismissed due to hardship or conflict of interest. To the best of my knowledge the school, which I would deem the same as an employer, will have to abide by the law if you can't get dismissed. The best advice I can give is to contact the judge and explain your situation. Even in the small town where I live the jury selection is numerous enough to cover such matters.
