Because the gr is always greener on the other side. Scots don't hate Conservatives for what they are, or what they believe in: they hate them because of who they are. Many Scottish people I've spoken to talk as if Thatcher is still the leader of the party. It's quite scary to think that the future of the country could have been tipped over the precipice on the basis of an irrational prejudice against a party because of a leader said party once had. It's the same as if the Labour government never having been elected again because of Jim Callaghan in the 70s had actually happened. If only English voters were as fickle and unforgetting as Scottish ones. There's still some English Labour seats. Somewhere...
