Blind Date and Morality?

I'm not a popular guy in school (not that I care), but many think I'm fairly humorous, especially in my writing. Occasionally, I write funny feature articles in my school newspaper (like going a week without spending money and becoming a janitor for a day) and I receive positive feedback. Now, some of the staff on the paper want me to go on a blind date and write about my experience. The problem is, I feel like readers will be laughing AT me rather than WITH me. They might even laugh at my poor date! You feel me? So, the question is... should I do it and risk being laughed at in hope of some people enjoying my article? I need help/suggestions.
